Software Engineering

I have spent my entire adult life working in the software business. I'm a passionate advocate for, and user of, Open Source software.

My main focus is in the Big Data space, chiefly using the AWS suite of Big Data tools (DynamoDB, Elastic MapReduce, Redshift, etc).

I am an unabashed Perl evangalist, but I also write a lot of code in Python (mostly in the context of PySpark) and Node.js. I was a very early adopter of Hadoop and NoSQL databases and have been using them over 10 years now.

If you're a recruiter, I am open to leadership level roles in Big Data, Data Science, or software development. Please check out my resume.

Photography

I've been an avid shutterbug since I was in middle school. I've been persuing photography professionally on a part-time basis since 2007.

As an engineer, the technical aspects of photography come to me very naturally. Given this, it may seem counter-intuitive that I have chosen to persue a more artistic style of photography over a technical one. I chose this path specifically because it is a challenge and forces me to work outside my comfort zone.

I am available for hire to select clients for portrait, product, and real estate photography. I do not do wedding or event photography, but I will be happy to give you a referral to someone who does.

Social Networking

I tend to be a very private person, and my time for updating this site is extremely limited, so you won't find much personal information about me here. I do have a presence on several social networks, and you are welcome to connect with me there if you wish.
